Who are we ?

A place born from solidarity and family hospitality

The Gîte in Châtel is much more than a holiday village: it's a human adventure that began in 1952, in the heart of the mountains, driven by the spirit of solidarity of Father Henri Lorton and the association Les Amis du Gîte . The goal? To offer families a simple and welcoming place to recharge, far from the cities, in a healthy and authentic environment.

Our story

In its early days, the Gîte was a rustic chalet nestled in Petit-Châtel, welcoming its first holidaymakers in a spirit of sharing, mutual support, and faith. Very quickly, this place became an essential meeting place for many Lyon families and dedicated volunteers.

A story built on strong values

Since its creation, the association Les Amis du Gîte has been dedicated to keeping this project alive, supported by generations of passionate volunteers, presidents, and organizers. Despite challenges (including a fire), the Gîte has rebuilt and evolved, while remaining true to its primary mission: welcoming all families in a warm and accessible setting.

Today: a holiday village on a human scale

Today, the Gîte à Châtel is a family-run holiday village affiliated with Cap France , offering all-inclusive stays with accommodation, home-cooked meals, hiking, kids' clubs, and outdoor activities. The atmosphere remains true to its origins: friendly, simple, and welcoming.

Our strength? Our history, our attachment to Châtel, and the family spirit that continues to animate each stay.
